Start here.

I never refer to myself as an artist. Mainly this is because I'm not very "artsy." I don't go to art shows, or paint, or even put a pencil to paper that often. I'm not even sure I own a pencil right now. I've never even taken an art class after the sixth grade. Not because I don't want to, but because I never thought I'd be able to hang with the cool kids that actually work at this stuff. But now I find myself dabbling in a little bit of everything and honing my craft a little more every day.

I've been working in newspapers and print design most of my life. I do almost all of my magic on computers (thus the reason why I don't have a pencil). And once I strapped on my skates, I started making posters, flyers, and promotional materials for my leagues. And now, with the help of my lovely and magnanimous business partner Wanton Rebellion, I own a derby clothing shop. You might see us out and about at a tournament or RollerCon, or online at scarredderbydesigns.com

But this isn't a place for me to plug my business. Simply, I want to help leagues and roller derby look the best they possibly can. And so I can make a poop joke every now and then. So, e-mail me at veronicascars@gmail.com and send me some stuff to feature on the site.

You can see a lot of my derby designs at www.flickr.com/photos/veronica_scars, and I'll be adding a lot more as I get more involved with this project.  I'll also be hunting down other derby artists and photographers in our community, so be on the lookout for guest bloggers and critiquers. And let me know if there's anything you want to see on here.

XOXOXO, V.
